Is Your Dog Peeing on Couch? Understand Why and solve problems.

Okay, here's my blog post about figuring out why my dog was peeing on the couch:

So, the other day, I walked into my living room and bam! The smell of dog pee hit me like a brick wall. My furry little buddy, Max, had peed on the couch. Again. I was so frustrated! I mean, he's house-trained, so what gives?

First Steps - Rule Out the Obvious

My first thought was, "Okay, is this a medical issue?"

  • I checked if he was drinking more water than usual.
  • I watched him pee outside to see if he was straining or showing any signs of discomfort.

Everything seemed normal there, so I figured it probably wasn't a UTI or something. Phew!

Getting Down to Detective Work

Since it didn't seem medical, I had to figure out what else it could be. I started thinking about any recent changes.

  • Had I changed his food? Nope.
  • Was there a new pet in the house? Nope.
  • Had his walking schedule changed? Bingo!

I realized I had started a new project at my work. I was working late a few days a week. That meant Max's evening walk was sometimes delayed. He was probably holding it in too long and then, well, accidents happen.

The Solution (Hopefully!)

To test my theory, I made a super strict schedule. Even when I was busy, I made sure to get home in time for his walk. Or, I asked my neighbor to let him out. It was a bit of a pain, but I was determined to fix this.

The Results?

It's been a couple of weeks now, and... drumroll... no more couch-peeing! I think it's solved the issue. He seems much happier, and my couch is definitely happier too. I also started giving him a little extra attention when I got home, just to make sure he felt secure.

It turns out, sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one. Max just needed his routine back. It was a good reminder for me to pay close attention to his needs, even when life gets hectic.
