Male French Bulldog Names: Popular & Perfect Choices
Okay, so I've got a new Frenchie, a little dude, and I was totally blanking on names. I wanted something cool, but not, like, too tough-sounding, you know? It's a French Bulldog, not a Rottweiler. So, I started my quest, like any normal person would, by hitting the internet.

Brainstorming and Googling
First, I just started brainstorming. I thought about things I liked, like foods, places, and characters from movies.I come up with a few words such as Baguette, Croissant, etc. But nothing stuck, I wrote down every name that popped into my head, no matter how silly it seemed.
- Whiskey
- Peanut
- Gizmo
Getting Specific: "French" Names
I figured I should probably lean into the "French" part of "French Bulldog," right? So I looked up some basic, common French names.
- Pierre
- Jacques
- Henri
Some of these were okay, but maybe a little too on the nose? I wanted something with a bit more personality.
Digging Deeper: Sounds and Meanings
Then I thought about how the names sounded. Did they roll off the tongue? Were they easy to shout across the dog park?I try to avoid too many syllables, two syllables or less should be the best.
- Beau (Sounds nice, means "handsome" - fitting!)
- Remy (Like the rat chef, kinda cute)
- Rocco (short and easy to say )
I spent probably a good hour just saying names out loud, seeing what felt right. My family probably thought I was losing it.
The Finalists and the Winner
Finally,I use my favorite notebook to write down all of these names. After hours of searching, scribbling, and muttering to myself, I narrowed it down to a few finalists:
- Rocco
- Beau
- Louie
And the winner? We went with Louie! It just felt right. It's French, but not stuffy, and it suits his goofy personality. Plus, saying "Louie, stop eating that sock!" just has a nice ring to it, don't you think?
